When it comes to song composition, I like to write songs that belong to a section in one of my notebooks. Each notebook is divided into various themes and how my effects chain should be manipulated to get the sound / textures belonging to the selected theme.
Today I recorded an mp3 that demonstrates two themes. The first is "music box pieces." The second is "Valentines Day cards."
Here is my gear configuration:
Fender Jagstang > Digitech RP200 > MIaudio Tube Zone > Time Warp (fuzz made by GringoLoco of Harmony-Central effects forum fame) > Danelectro Fab Chorus > Ibanez DE-7 Delay/Echo > Boss RV-5 > Epiphone Valve JR combo
In the mp3 below, I start off using a touch of the Tube Zone to dirty up the sound and give it the character I was looking for. Then I clicked off the Tube Zone around 19 seconds in and turned on the RV-5 to play a little clean bit from the previously mentioned Valentines Day theme.
